Live Scan is a system that electronically captures a person’s fingerprint impressions as digitized images. Prior to the invention of Live Scan a few decades ago, legacy fingerprinting method used black ink and thick cards to capture the person’s fingerprint impressions. This legacy method was messy and produces inconsistent qualities and results.
Modern Live Scan technology is far superior to the inked fingerprint cards and has a much simpler process with lower rejection rate. However, due to the cost of Live Scan systems and consumer adoption; fingerprinting industry does not have adequate Live Scan location to service every applicant throughout the country. Therefore, it is still necessary for us to utilize police stations and business partners to augment our fingerprinting services.
In the event we do not offer a Live Scan location in your area, the abovementioned ink fingerprint location can take your fingerprints on standard cards where you can mail them to our card processing center to complete your background check.
You should only use the ink fingerprint location if there is no Live Scan location near you. You must complete the online portion of the fingerprint background check process on ApplicantServices.com first (e.g. enter demographics, schedule appointment, pay, print forms, etc.). Since your transaction’s process can be different from others; be sure to follow the detailed instructions provided to you via email from ApplicantServices.com. To get started, click on the “Get Fingerprinted” button on the Top Menu.
Simply click on “Get Fingerprinted” menu at the top of the page. Then, proceed as a guest or register as a User. Then select the “Live Scan Locations” to find a Live Scan provider near you.
